A successful first meeting for the new Core Team of 2018!
From 9th to 11th February, the new Core Team of CATS met in Paris to elaborate the program of the 2018 edition in Caux and to define roles of each member.
Based on the “Protective Environments” framework developed by UNICEF, we thought about methods to allow children and adults to collaborate in a safe space to create a safe world for children. After long hours of reflexion and exchanges, we outlined a program for CATS 2018! Take a look at the highlights of this very inspiring and week-end!
On the first day, after an overview of the agenda of the weekend, the team took the time to get to know each other, as there are new members in the Core Team for 2018. Ice-breakers, presentations, pizzas and team building games were on the agenda for this first evening !
During the second day, the team went more deeply into the design of the forum. The CATS 2018 NAOMIE strategic planning tool (Needs, Aims, Objectives, Methods, Implementation and Evaluation) was presented by the Executive Team to the Core Team. It was also the occasion to explore the Protective Environments Framework and the theme of the forum, especially through the method of “Philosophy for Children”.
The rest of the day was a big brainstorming to learn from past forums and to design the activities. The first session was a carousel of brainstorming on the different parts of the forum: for each bits the members had 2 minutes to put ideas.
Then,in small groups they worked to define activities linked with the aims of CATS (Share, Inspire, Strengthen, Engage). At the end of the day the outline of the program was drawn and everybody went home reflecting on the role they wanted to have during the summer.
On Sunday 11th February, the members of MEOW, the group of young people who participate in designing the forum, had their first meeting to share their expections. Meanwhile, the adults discussed everybody’s roles in details. Afterwards, the whole team gathered to discuss the outreach (who we could invite, how to do it…) and the fundraising, before an evaluation of the Core Team meeting.
The next Core Team meeting will be held from 27th to 29th of April, to discuss more in depth the organisation of the forum. Meanwhile, everybody has to do the work they were assigned to do!
