The Core Team met for the second time of the year, from 27th to 29th of April in the office of the association Initiatives et Changement France, co-organizer of the CATS forum. Even if every members were not present during theses three days, the meeting was very useful.
We begun the meeting by discussing the Protective Environment Framework of Unicef composed by 8 elements, which correspond to the 8 strips of the umbrella, symbol of this year edition of CATS. The 8 components are the following:
– Legislation and enforcement
– Attitudes, customs, traditions, behavior and practices
– Open discussion including engagement from the media and civil society
– Children’s life skills, knowledge and participation
– Capacity of those in contact with children
– Basic and targeted services
– Monitoring and oversight
The important point of Child safeguarding was also debated during the first day of the meeting. After these subjects, the team started to work directly on the program (Together Times, Opening/Closing sessions, Being Times, Community groups, Kittens, Worshops). Following its core values, CATS aims to develop the children and youth participation, therefore part of the meeting was dedicated to the roles and involvement of MEOW, “Making Earth Our World”, a group a young people who help to build the program. More technical points were also discussed as the use of the spaces during the forum.
The last day, we talked mostly about the needs of CATS in terms of documentation and communication and about the provisional participants and speakers. This was the last Core team meeting before the forum, that will be held from 30th of July to 5th of August. We will share the detailed program of the event soon.
